The Assistant Volleyball Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the NJCAA volleyball program. This includes assisting with practices, game preparation, recruiting, and team travel. The role requires a strong commitment to student-athlete development, academic achievement, and compliance with NJCAA and institutional guidelines. Official duties and compensation for this position will begin annually with the first official start date as determined annually by the NJCAA and end with the end date as determined annually by the NJCAA. Assistant coaches do not have paid responsibilities outside of these dates.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and conducting practices, drills, and game strategies.
- Support recruitment of qualified student-athletes through outreach, campus visits, and scouting.
- Actively participate in all games, providing support to the head coach and team.
- Drive college vans to away games and events as needed.
- Help monitor academic progress and provide mentorship to student-athletes.
- Assist with administrative duties such as equipment management, travel planning, and record keeping.
- Promote a positive team culture and uphold standards of sportsmanship and conduct.

Education:
- High school diploma.
- College degree is preferred.
Experience & Knowledge:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the sport through a minimum of two years playing or coaching experience is required.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with NJCAA regulations is a plus.
Computer Skills:
- Must have exemplary computer skills including being proficient with MS Office.
- Must have the ability to learn and use software related to athletic scheduling and statistics, as well as the college student information and learning management systems.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Criminal Background (State and FBI) and Child Abuse Clearances.
- Valid PA driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
Physical Demands:
- Will regularly need to speak, hear, listen, reach, run, walk and jump.
- Will need to lift and move equipment necessary for the sport.
