Under the direction of the Director of Student Financial Services, the Financial Aid Coordinator provides financial aid services to students using the guidelines established by the College and regulatory agencies. The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the completion of front office procedures and providing customer service to students, parents, and college personnel and outside agencies. The Coordinator is responsible for understanding and making certain that their work is in compliance with federal, state and institutional regulations.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Conducts a review of federal criteria and student information to determine the relative eligibility of each financial aid applicant.
- Conducts verification of student and parent data to be in compliance with federal regulations as well as utilizes professional judgment on an individual basis to adjust a student’s eligibility based on documented circumstances in accordance with federal statutes.
- Participates in college outreach activities with an emphasis on financial aid advising and service to current and prospective students. Interacts with appropriate outside entities in order to facilitate the student eligibility process or to conduct the duties associated with an assigned area of specialization.
- Maintains appropriate database systems and generates requested reports.
- Maintains compliance standards for the financial aid front office; ensures conformance to federal, state and college policies, procedures and regulations.
- Coordinates and maintains an action plan for updating and implementing front office processes and procedures.
- Assists the Director and Assistant Director with the coordinating and administration of the Federal Work Study, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Veterans Affairs and the State Grant programs.
- Performs related duties as assigned by the Director of Student Financial Services.
- Attendance at all mandatory meetings.

Education:
- Associate degree required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience & Knowledge:
- Three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in higher education financial aid is strongly preferred.
Computer Skills:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of Jenzabar is preferred, but not required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Criminal background check.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit and talk, see or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to use hands to type, write, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee may occasionally have to stoop or kneel.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
