Transfer in from Career & Tech Centers

For students who have completed a career and technology program, Pennsylvania Highlands will accept up to and provide 15 credits of technical electives applied to the Entrepreneurship Associate of Applied Science program. Please see Admissions for details on how to enroll at Pennsylvania Highlands.

In addition, Pennsylvania Highlands has articulated with the many SOAR approved programs offered across Pennsylvania’s Career and Technology programs.

Below is a list of program to program pathways available for Career and Technology program completers and the college credits awarded for each program through Pennsylvania’s SOAR program.


Career and Technology Center Adult Education Program Agreements:

  • Greater Altoona Career & Technology Center

    Marketing Management A.A.S.
    Upon completion of Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center’s post-secondary program in Retail Marketing/Entrepreneurship, students will receive the following credit toward the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree:

    • MKT 200 Sales and Customer Service (3 credits)

    Medical Assisting Technology A.A.S.
    Upon completion of the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center Medical Assistant Program, students can apply the following credits toward the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree:

    • HSC 100 Medical Terminology (3 credits)
    • HSC 130 Basic Anatomy & Physiology (3 credits)

    Entrepreneurship (Cosmetology) A.A.S.
    Up to fifteen (15) credits of technical elective may be awarded for the completion of the program of study. An additional six (6) credits may be awarded for the following General Education/Major Requirements:

    • BUS 110 Introduction to Business (3 credits)
    • COM 101 Public Speaking (3 credits)

    Information Technology, A.A.S.
    Upon completion of Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center’s post-secondary program in Computer and Networking Technology, students will receive the following credit toward the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree:

    Information Technology: Cyber Security Track

    • CIT 165 Hardware Components (3 credits)
    • CIT 173 Windows Enterprise Desktop OS (3 credits)
    • CIT 132 Local Area Networks (4 credits)

    Information Technology: Network Administration Track

    • CIT 173 Windows Enterprise Desktop OS (3 credits)

    Information Technology: Server Administration Track

    • CIT 165 Hardware Components (3 credits)
    • CIT 173 Windows Enterprise Desktop OS (3 credits)
    • CIT 132 Local Area Networks (4 credits)
