The Transfer Services Specialist engages with students, faculty, and staff to ensure an understanding of the intricacies of transfer, articulation, and completion. Acting as an advisor to students, a source of knowledge for faculty and staff, and a liaison for advisors from other institutions, this person will work to establish protocols for advising and transfer of students that incorporate the principals of guided pathways, a focus on completion, and development and review of articulation agreements.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Act as the primary advisor for Liberal Arts and Sciences Online Students and as secondary advisor to students in other transfer programs.
- Work with faculty and advisors engaged with students in A.A. and A.S. programs to provide updates and ongoing training related to transfer planning and completion strategies, articulation agreement opportunities, and develop goals regarding the successful transfer of students.
- Engages with all students enrolled in A.A. and A.S. programs to ensure proper preparation for transfer.
- Develop and deploy a sustainable method for communicating and documenting student planning leveraging the student information system.
- Incorporate guided pathways initiatives into advising protocols, ensuring these practices are culturally responsive and reflective of inclusive perspectives.
- Collaborate with the Registrar’s Office to help guide the development of new articulation agreements and amendment of current agreements.
- Establish relationships with and develop engagement opportunities for transfer counselors from other institutions allowing our faculty, staff, and students to better engage.
- Assist with the day-to-day operation of the Student Success Center.
- Participate in academic planning days, new student orientations, workshops, award ceremonies, and commencement.
- Train new faculty advisors
- Collect, analyze, and report data.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited higher education institution is required.
- Master’s degree in related field preferred.
Experience & Knowledge:
- A minimum of two years’ experience in post-secondary or secondary education required, preferably in student advising, retention, counseling, or as a teaching faculty member with knowledge of student development theory.
- Related experience in business or a community agency in providing training, counseling, or coordination of services will be considered.
- Must be knowledgeable and sensitive to the needs of a diverse student population.
- Must possess the ability to maintain strong collegial relationships and demonstrate a strong student-centered philosophy.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills required.
- Excellent public speaking skills preferred.
Computer Skills:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.
- Experience with the College’s student information system helpful.
