Director of the Foundation

Location: Richland Campus – Hybrid

Full or Part Time: Full-Time

Annual Salary: $45,000 – $55,000 plus Generous Benefits Package

Job Scope

The Director of the Foundation serves as a visionary leader of the Pennsylvania Highlands Community College (Penn Highlands) Foundation with a focus on fundraising that supports the College and its students. The Director works in conjunction and cooperation with the College President and the Penn Highlands Foundation Board of Directors to further Foundation goals. This position requires some evening and weekend work. Regular travel across the district is expected for Foundation and College business.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  1. Serves as a visionary leader of the Penn Highlands Foundation.
  2. Represents the Foundation and its interests at all College and external events.
  3. Serves as the principal fundraiser for the Foundation along with the College President and the Penn Highlands Foundation Board of Directors. Fundraising supports student scholarships and Foundation fundraising initiatives.
  4. Leads Foundation business in conjunction and cooperation with the College President and Penn Highlands Foundation Board of Directors.
    1. Regularly communicates and meets with the Foundation’s Board of Directors to foster relationships especially with the Board President.
    2. Facilitates communication between the College President and the Foundation Board of Directors.
    3. Prepares Board agendas and packets for Foundation Board meetings.
    4. Organizes and schedules Foundation Board and committee meetings.
    5. Prepares the minutes for the Foundation board and committee meetings to be reviewed and approved by the Directors.
    6. Creates and maintains databases related to donors, alumni, and Foundation Board members.
    7. Maintains databases and assists with activities related to Foundation scholarships.
    8. Processes check requests and collects and maintains donor pledges and payments to the Foundation.
    9. Prepares and executes Foundation events and fundraising campaigns.
    10. Administers Foundation funds to support Penn Highlands students (e.g., scholarships, emergency fund, food pantry, etc.) as appropriate.
    11. Prepares and manages the Foundation budget.
    12. Develops an alumni organization.
  5. Leads the preparation and execution of special College events (e.g., Business After Hours and receptions) at all College locations.
  6. Works effectively with the College’s Marketing and Communications Department as is necessary to promote Foundation and/or College events.
  7. Interviews, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates work-study students and interns who work in the President’s or Foundation’s Office.
  8. Takes a leadership role in internal and external community service activities and organizations.
  9. Other professional duties as assigned by the President.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, management, public relations, marketing, organizational leadership, or related field is required.

Experience & Knowledge:

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a fundraising role is preferred or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills to communicate and interact with individuals of various backgrounds.
  • Must be organized and have a strong attention to detail.

Computer Skills:

  • Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher) and proficiency with the internet is required.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Professional is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Criminal Background Clearance and Driver’s License.

  • The employee is required to sit (frequently), stand, and walk.
  • Must be able to hear, see, speak, use, and operate a computer.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.
