Interested in learning how to work with professional engineers and surveyors through computer software? This certificate will help you learn how to use CAD/CADD software properly in an effort to design, draft, and layout buildings, roads, and utilities.
Students like you will learn how to understand and utilize CAD/CADD software to create drawings and other key graphical elements. In addition, students will be able to create a civil site and utility plans, and be able to identify different civil symbols. This knowledge and educational foundation will give students the confidence they need to interact and effectively communicate with professional engineers and surveyors.
Graduates with this certificate will either be prepared to enter the job market as highly skilled individuals or be able to take their education to the next level with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Architectural/Civil: CAD and Design Technology.
- Demonstrate an understanding of CAD and CADD software and its commands for the creation of drawings.
- Demonstrate the ability to create civil site and utility plans with CADD software.
- Identify civil symbols, hatching and line work used in the creation of civil plans.
- Demonstrate strong communication, critical thinking, and team participation skills by describing how to relate drawing and design information to the public and contractors, communicate effectively with engineers and other professionals and use interpersonal and team building skills for effective co-worker and client relationships.
