Architectural Technology (Certificate)
Interested in architecture? Willing to 'design' your way to the top from the ground floor? This certificate will help you learn how to properly design structures and work with others in the architectural profession.
Students like you will learn how to understand and utilize CAD/CADD software to create drawings and other key graphical elements. In addition, students will be able to distinguish between different building components, views, and plans, and be able to identify different architectural symbols. This knowledge and educational foundation will give students the confidence they need to interact and effectively communicate with architects and other building professionals.
Graduates with this certificate will either be prepared enter the job market as highly skilled individuals or be able to take their education to the next level with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Architectural/Civil: CAD and Design Technology.
- Demonstrate an understanding of CAD and CADD software and its commands for the creation of drawings.
- Distinguish between different building components, views, plans and details within a complete architectural project.
- Identify architectural symbols, hatching and line work used in the creation of architectural plans.
- Demonstrate strong communication, critical thinking, and team participation skills by describing how to relate drawing and design information to the public and contractors, communicate effectively with architects and other building professionals and use interpersonal and team building skills for effective co-worker and client relationships.
