Pennsylvania Highlands Community College is proud to announce that we are now offering a no cost service that will educate members of the community about effective methods in preparing for potentially disastrous events. This service is funded by a grant known as the “Preplink Preparedness Community Schoolhouse.”
The service will consist of a series of PowerPoint presentations that you can access from the comfort of your own home and will teach the concept of interconnectivity of disaster response activities. By the end of this presentation one will be able to:
- Determine community members’ individual responsibilities in preparing for potentially disastrous events.
- Identify the impact community engagement can have on a community’s ability to prepare for a potentially disastrous event.
- Describe the positive impacts a community can make on the effectiveness of the local first response efforts, public health initiatives, and local medical providers’ ability to meet the needs of the community.
- Identify the factors that link business continuity, volunteerism, and community resilience.
- Describe how a community can implement community preparedness education and lead the effort.
- Relate community preparedness to the concept of community resilience.
