A digital library is a collection of materials that have been converted to digital format for access via the Internet. For the Johnstown Flood of 1889 Collection the digitization process resulted in nine monographs being scanned into a grayscale image- TIFF format at 300 dpi. The monographs were also scanned to allow for text searching.

The collections of photographs in the digital library were also scanned at 300 dpi and have been cataloged to allow for searching by subject.

Some items in the collection are available only in .pdf format which will require the use of Adobe Reader. The Reader is free to download.

The materials in the Monograph Collection and NPS Photograph Collection were digitized by OCLC Digital Collection and Preservation Services.
