Admissions Counselor, Part-Time
(Position will be located in Somerset)

Pennsylvania Highlands Community College is currently accepting applications for the position of Admissions Counselor Part-Time.  The Admissions Counselor is responsible for all phases of student recruitment – from generating inquiries, to processing applications, to ensuring the successful transition of prospective students to the College. This person will provide information about the College’s admission process, and represent the college to prospective students, their families, school guidance counselors and other constituents. Excellent verbal and communication skills are required. This position is primarily responsible for regional recruitment and must have the ability to work independently and possess the high energy level necessary to increase enrollment from the assigned territory.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university.  Two years of admissions recruiting or related experience preferred.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Outlook, Jenzabar, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Database software.  Must be able to travel for presentations, meetings, conferences as needed

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Recruits prospective traditional and non-traditional students by various means including personal meetings, phone calls, mailings, and presentations.
  • Provides a comprehensive overview of College programs, admissions procedures, and other information essential for prospective students to make an informed decision.
  • Represents the College at various recruitment events in a knowledgeable, friendly and professional manner.
  • Coordinates and evaluates all recruitment strategy and planning within the assigned territory and completes activities required to accomplish recruitment and enrollment goals.
  • Establishes relationships with students, parents, secondary counselors, agencies and organizations to attract a diverse population of applicants.
  • Networks with other organizations, agencies, schools and businesses to plan, coordinate, schedule, and conduct informational meetings and other recruitment activities.
  • Provides follow-up via in-person, extensive telephone, email, and written contact to prospective students and applicants.
  • Ability and endurance necessary to work the hours needed to complete the job.
  • Attendance at all mandatory meetings.
  • Regular attendance. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions.
