Pennsylvania Highlands Community College is a partner with the Workforce & Economic Development Network for Pennsylvania (WEDnetPA). Pennsylvania Highlands, through its Workforce Education, is the primary contact in our region for the WEDnetPA program.
WEDnetPA was created by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to assist certain employers with training their employees through programs offered by the Guaranteed Free Training (GFT) Porgram. The mission of WEDnetPA is to “strengthen the business environment of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by providing a training network that is responsive to employer’s workforce development needs”.
Companies can receive up to $450 for Basic Skills training for eligible employees and up to $850 per employees for Information Technology training (IT). The Information Technology Training (IT) and Basic Skill Training programs are available to qualified Pennsylvania companies and out-of-state businesses relocating to the state.
Basic Skills Training includes instruction in a variety of entry level and basic skills such as:
- Applied Mathematics & Measurement
- Business Operations
- Computer Training - Word, PowerPoint, Excel, & Access
- Product and Process Control
- Workplace Health & Safety
- Manufacturing Fundamentals
Information Technology Training teaches specific skills as defined according to the type and scope of the business. Some of the types of training through this program include:
- Database Development
- Website Design and Development
- Computer Programming & Software Development
- Network Administration & Technology Support
- Applied Manufacturing Technology
