The following classes are being offered at their respective Penn Highlands centers:

EBENSBURG CENTER

Basic Computers
Beginners are introduced to personal computers and the Windows Operating System. Learn terminology and the basic features of Windows, how to start software applications, navigate through Windows and use basic word processing features.

Improved physical fitness, increased mental clarity, tension relief, and general well-being are a few of the benefits of yoga. Join our veteran yoga instructor as you gently stretch and strengthen your body, clear your mind, and release stress. Please bring yoga mat and yoga strap (or necktie).

One-Day ServSafe Certification
This one-day course is recommended for people in occupations where food is handled. This course meets PA licensure guidelines and is a one-day eight hour class. The length of the entire course is 15 hours, which includes 7.5 hours of self/home study prior to the date of the one-day seminar. Participants must sign an affidavit the day of the course stating that they have participated in 7.5 hours of home study prior to taking the course. A textbook must be purchased at the College book store. Registration is necessary two weeks prior to the start date of this course. A valid photo ID is needed for the exam. *If you require a non-English exam you MUST request this at registration.

SOMERSET CENTER

One-Day ServSafe Certification
This one-day course is recommended for people in occupations where food is handled. This course meets PA licensure guidelines and is a one-day eight hour class. The length of the entire course is 15 hours, which includes 7.5 hours of self/home study prior to the date of the one-day seminar. Participants must sign an affidavit the day of the course stating that they have participated in 7.5 hours of home study prior to taking the course. A textbook must be purchased at the College book store. Registration is necessary two weeks prior to the start date of this course. A valid photo ID is needed for the exam. *If you require a non-English exam you MUST request this at registration.

Beginner DSLR Photography
Whether you just bought a new camera or have been struggling for a while our professional instructor, Chris Hay, will help you master the basics and understand your digital SLR camera. Chris will cover topics such as understanding and navigating through camera menus, exposure and how it is obtained, lens choices, flash, and other accessories. This class is open to anyone 10 years of age and up. Please be sure to bring your owner’s manual.

Photoshop Elements
Although you may think taking pictures is fun, wait until you see what you can do with this popular software program! It's like having a darkroom in your computer. Join instructor Chris Hay and learn to edit and manipulate your photos. You'll need to have your own version of Photoshop Elements loaded on your laptop and ready to go at the start of class. Again, a basic knowledge of your computer operation is a must.

One-Day Pottery Hand Building Workshops
Held at Laurel Arts Education and Dance Center
Pennsylvania Highlands, in collaboration with Laurel Arts, is excited to offer one-day hand-building pottery workshops. Curious about clay? Experiment and explore as you learn the basics of hand-building in a relaxed classroom atmosphere. Join instructor Andy Jenkins for an afternoon of fun and come away with a masterpiece you can proudly display in your home. All levels welcome!

One-Day Pottery Wheel Workshop
Held at Laurel Arts Education and Dance Center 
Pennsylvania Highlands, in collaboration with Laurel Arts Center, is excited to offer a one-day pottery wheel workshop. This workshop is for students who have had some wheel experience and are looking to continue building on basic skills. Join instructor Andy Jenkins for an afternoon of fun and create a piece of art that you can be proud of!

Pottery Class
Held at Laurel Arts Education and Dance Center 
Pennsylvania Highlands, in collaboration with Laurel Arts Center, is proud to offer this 6-week course. Experiment with methods while learning basic building skills in this fun class. This course will include project-based work sessions as well as technical demonstrations and surface exploration. All experience levels are welcome!

BLAIR CENTER

Introduction to Photography
Photographs are taken to record a moment in time. This course will help take you from a snapshot to a photograph. From beginners to professionals, there is something in this course for everyone. Participants will learn the fundamentals of photography including exposure, composition, and technique, and will gain hands on experience through exercises to learn how camera settings affect photographs. Participants are not required to have previous experience in photography. Recommended for participants aged 16 years and older. Participants should bring a digital camera with them to class.

Introduction to Improv Comedy!
Impress your friends with the comedic genius hidden within you! This course will teach you how to develop improv comedy through individual and group activities, conquering fear of public speaking, and the techniques for delivering comedy. Participants should be aged 18 years and older.

Retail Management Certification
Calling all recently hired/promoted Retail Managers, Sales Managers, Assistant Managers, or those interested in working as a Retail/Sales Manager! Join instructor Nancy Bickel-Kanzleiter in this dynamic course, developed by the NRF (National Retail Federation) Foundation. You will be prepared for a leadership role in Retail Management by incorporating five core areas of accountability: operations, merchandising, selling and service, human resources, and financial reporting.

Safe Sitter Babysitting Certificate Program
Babysitting is an important job. The Safe Sitter® program prepares young teens and pre-teens no younger than 11 to confidently care for themselves and younger children when adults aren’t present. You’ll learn how, why and where injuries happen so that you can prevent them, how to get help if you need it, how to rescue a choking infant or child, and how to keep yourself safe when babysitting. Discover how a child’s age affects how you care for them, how to prevent problem behavior, and how to run your babysitting business! This course includes CPR training.
