This is an introductory course for the beginner, or someone interested in re-learning the fundamentals. Students will learn basic crochet stitches and simple techniques for incorporating them into a finished, handmade item. Floral Arts [ZAC 002]
This course is designed to be a hands-on introduction to the field of floral design. The objective is to provide a fun, exciting means to gain the rudimentary skills and knowledge for entry-level employment and/or a lifelong pursuit of a very satisfying hobby. Topics to be addressed will include identifying flowers, using the tools of the trade, hands-on design and arrangement, wedding flowers, and designing with silk flowers. Students will make various arrangements to take home with them. Cost of supplies is extra and will be discussed at the first class (estimated cost: $30).

Introduction to Painting [ZAC 003]
This is an introductory course into the basic elements, principles and techniques of painting. This will be a hands-on class and will address composition and design, the use of color, and effects of light and atmosphere. Cost of materials is extra and a list will be provided at the first class (estimated cost: $35).

Sewing for Beginners [ZAC 004]
This four week session will provide the student with the foundation to begin sewing and to expand on that knowledge in the future. Students will learn the fundamentals of sewing while making lounge/pajama pants. The basics will be covered, including an overview of the sewing machine, pattern, fabric and notion selection, fabric layout, cutting and marking, and garment assembly. The first class will include a visit to a local fabric store where experts will assist students in selecting a pattern, fabric and notions. Coupons and an information packet will be available. The cost of materials is extra and will be paid by the student at the fabric store. Students must bring their sewing machine with the instruction manual, scissors, measuring tape, and straight pins to class.

Stained Glass for Beginners[ZAC 005]
Begin to appreciate the beauty of church windows and Tiffany lamps from a whole new perspective by learning the art of stained glass. Students will learn about different types of glass, how to cut glass, and how to lay out a pattern to make a sun catcher. Techniques learned will include glass cutting, grinding, copper foiling, assembling and soldering. This class will build the foundation for students to expand upon this historical craft! Cost of materials is extra and a list will be provided at the first class (estimated cost: $50).

Beginning Quiltmaking [ZAC 006]
Students will learn the components of making a quilt while creating a beautiful, quilted table runner which will make a fabulous keepsake or gift! Class topics will address color choices, rotary cutting techniques, chain piecing, block assembly, machine quilting, and binding. Students must bring their sewing machine with the instruction manual as well as rotary cutting equipment to class (details provided with class confirmation).
