Step 1: Talk to an Admissions Counselor
All prospective students should begin by contacting the Pennsylvania Highlands Admissions Office. As you begin your college search, it is important to be well informed about the College, programs, majors, financial aid and the admissions process. At a minimum make a telephone call or e-mail. However, even better would be to schedule an appointment to visit the College and an Admissions Counselor.
This will ensure that you that you are fully informed of your options, have established appropriate educational goals, and ensure accurate completion of the application process.

Step 2: Complete an Application for Admission
Submit your completed application either online or in person at the college and the $20 application fee will be waived. An official copy of your final high school transcripts or GED must also be sent to the Admissions Office. This will complete the admissions requirements and an acceptance packet will be sent to you. The packet contains an acceptance letter, admissions survey, and a checklist of items to complete after you're accepted. If you're still attending high school when completing an application, include your current high school transcript and have your final transcript sent to Admissions after graduation.

Step 4: Assess Your Skills
Placement testing is scheduled for most students and allows the College to help determine your readiness for college-level coursework. New students must complete the admissions process before scheduling a placement test. The test results are confidential and allow for appropriate placement into classes. COMPASS placement testing is required for all degree-seeking full and part-time students and all non-degree seeking students planning to enroll in an English or mathematics course. Placement testing is housed in our Student Success Center. We highly recommend that you practice prior to completing your placement test. The test is called Compass and sample questions are available at http://www.act.org/compass/sample.
Placement Testing is automatically scheduled for high school senior applicants intending to start in the fall semester of their graduation year. Testing and Registration Days are scheduled for April and May and an invitation will be mailed to those applicants.
Placement Testing for the spring and summer semesters and all other applicants are scheduled by appointment. Contact theAdmissions Office at 814.262.6446 or admissions@pennhighlands.edu.

Step 5: Choose Your Courses
Once placement testing is complete, the next step is to meet with your advisor to schedule your coursework. Advisors will discuss your academic path at the College and help tailor your schedule so that you can achieve both your career or transfer goals.
Advising for new students is by appointment and usually can be completed immediately after your placement test. Advising for new students is completed in the Student Success Center. A registration form is completed at this time and the student submits the completed form to the Registration Office. The student will receive a print-out of his/her schedule.

Step 6: Pay Your Tuition
Tuition and fees can be paid at the Bursar's Office using Visa, Mastercard, cash or check. Each semester has a Tuition Due Date, which is just prior to the start of the semester. Pennsylvania Highlands has a monthly payment option for those students paying their own tuition. The student must either pay the tuition, make a payment on the payment plan, or have financial aid awarded to them by the tuition due date.

This is a great opportunity for you to become acquainted with our campus and staff, learn about student computer accounts, meet other new students, and get prepared for the start of classes.
Information on orientation will be mailed to your home prior to the date of your orientation. |
