How do I get started and who should I contact for assistance and information?

Call the Admissions Office directly at 814.262.6446. You can also call our switchboard at 814.262.6400 or the toll free number is 1.888.385.PEAK. Also, refer to the Getting Started: How to Enroll link.

Do I gave to take SAT's to attend Pennsylvania Highlands?

No, SAT’s are not an admissions requirement for Pennsylvania Highlands.

Do I have to apply to the College if I only want to take one class?

Yes, all new Full-time and Part-time students must complete an Application for Admission before registering.

I attended Pennsylvania Highlands several years ago, do I need to complete another application?

Yes, if you have not attended Pennsylvania Highlands for two consecutive semesters you will need to apply for readmission. Your Admissions Status is Re-Admit and you are not required to pay the $20 application fee.

What is the deadline for registering for a class?

You should plan to register as soon as possible for any given semester, but no later than Wednesday before the start of the semester. You can register during the first week of class, however, you will be required to pay a late registration fee.

I have prior college credits earned from another college. How do I enroll at Pennsylvania Highlands and get my credits transferred?

First of all, complete and submit an application for admission along with your $20 application fee and final high school transcripts. Once your application has been processed and major is declared, then we can evaluate prior college transcripts. Have official college transcripts sent to the Pennsylvania Highlands Registration office for transfer evaluation. You will then receive an unofficial transcript listing the classes that transfer.

What is the cost per credit at Pennsylvania Highlands?

This information may be found by contacting the Bursar's Office or visiting the Tuition and Fees section of our website..

What methods of payment can I use?

We accept cash, check, money order, Mastercard, and Visa. Any question on payment issues should be directed to the Bursar’s Office at 814.262.6437 or email bursar@pennhighlands.edu.

When do I have to pay?

There is a tuition due date every semester just prior to the start of the semester. When open registration starts, students can register with no money down. However, by the tuition due date the student must:

  • Pay in full
  • Enter into a payment plan
  • Have financial aid ( This means have the financial aid process completed, which includes receiving and returning the award letter from the Financial Aid Office)

Failure to do one of the three options will result in the student being de-registered and lose his/her seat in the class/classes.

Do I have to take a test for admissions and how much does it cost?

Every new student that is either degree seeking or desires to take an English or math course is required to take a placement test. There is no extra charge for the test as it is part of the application fee. The student must be accepted before the placement test can be scheduled.

For information about placement tests contact the Student Success Center at 814.262.6451.

How can I find out about financial aid?

You can learn more by visiting the Financial Aid section of the website or by contacting the Financial Aid Office at 814.262.6454 or financialaid@pennhighlands.edu .

Will Pennsylvania Highlands credits transfer to other colleges?

Yes, we are accredited by the Middle States Association of College and Schools. This
means that all colleges and universities will accept credits in transfer from Pennsylvania Highlands. This doesn’t mean that every college will accept every credit, we strongly
urge you to communicate with the four-year institution that you are considering and
get pre-approval

Can I apply and register online?

Not yet, but the College has plans to activate online applications and registrations by Spring 2010. Currently our application for admissions and semester registration forms are on the forms section of the website. You can print them and submit them by mail, fax, or in person.

How old do you have to be to register for a class?

Age is not the determining factor. You must be a junior in high school to enroll at Pennsylvania Highlands. The earliest is the fall of your junior year, not the summer preceding the start of your junior year. Along with an application for admission, a high school student is required to provide a letter from the high school principal or guidance counselor authorizing the student to attend the college.

What programs do you offer?

Visit our academic programs section of the website or view our College Catalog for complete details of the programs we offer. If you have questions after reviewing the information, contact the Admissions Office.

I just want to be part-time and take one class. What do I need to do?

When completing the application for admission, indicate you are a Non-Degree Seeking Student. You will be considered a non-matriculated student, which means you only need to submit the application and fee before registering. High school transcripts are not necessary. However, there are a limited number of credits that you can take under that status. If you choose to pursue a degree and become matriculated, you’ll need to re-apply, declare a major, and submit final high school transcripts.
