As a Pennsylvania Highlands Community College student in our Online Campus, you will have access to the same student resources as our on-campus students. Below you will find a list of Student Resources that will help you through your educational journey.

  • Technical Requirements Open or Close
    • Internet Connection: High speed broadband or DSL
    • Desktop Computer or Laptop recommended: Must be able to save and upload files to a web site. Smartphones and tablets should not be your primary means of doing your assignments.
    • Operating Systems: Windows 7 or higher OR Mac OS X Tiger or higher
    • Processor: Intel i3 processor or equivalent minimum
    • Memory: 4 GB RAM minimum
    • Hard Disk Drive Space: 10 GB free hard disk space recommended
    • Monitor Resolution: 1024 x 768 recommended
    • Web Browser: Latest stable release of the following:
      • Google Chrome
      • Internet Explorer
      • Microsoft Edge
      • Mozilla Firefox
      • Safari – only on Mac OS
    • Microsoft Office Suite is provided by the College via Microsoft Office 365
    • Adobe Acrobat Reader
    • Some courses may have additional hardware or software requirements (refer to course syllabus)
  • Student Portal Open or Close

    The College uses the myPEAK portal for students to access information about their schedules, advisors, faculty, grades, and technical support. All students will receive a username and password to access the portal after they apply for admission to the College. Click here to access myPEAK or click the button on the College’s main page.

  • Email Open or Close

    Each student is provided an email account that they will need to check regularly. To access your email account, please click here or visit webmail.pennhighlands.edu.

    Your email address is your myPEAK username followed by @pennhighlands.edu.  Your email password is the same as your myPEAK password. To access your email, please enter your proper user name and password, then click OK. If you have any problems with accessing your email, contact the College's Help Desk at helpdesk@pennhighlands.edu.

  • Taking Online Courses at Penn Highlands Open or Close

    Online courses are taught through our myPEAK portal. When classes begin you can access your online course pages by logging into myPEAK and going to the My Courses link.

    You will use your online course page to complete all you coursework. You will have to do readings, submit homework, post in discussion forums, and other assignments as you work your way through the class. Throughout the whole course you will be communicating with your instructor via email and other online methods. The College also provides support services if you have technical questions about your online classes.

  • Financial Aid Open or Close

    Financial Aid is available for those students who qualify. The College offers Federal Financial Aid programs such as PELL Grants and the Stafford Load program as well as Pennsylvania State Grants. Online students are highly encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) so that the Penn Highlands Financial Aid Office can begin the process of determining aid eligibility. Please visit our Financial page for more information.

  • Mangarella Library Open or Close

    The Pennsylvania Highlands Community College Mangarella Library offers a wide selection of online databases, ebooks, and support services for the student learner. Online services such as Smarthinking, a 24 hour tutoring service is available on the Library’s Student Resources page. Students may also take advantage of the Library’s mobile app to access materials from an Apple or Android device. Librarian assistance is available 24/7 and the Library provides access to many customized YouTube videos to help students with searching the online databases or putting citations into papers. Click here to access the Mangarella Library online.

  • Bookstore Open or Close

    The College's Bookstore offers a wide variety of online textbooks and can have books delivered directly to students, click here to access.

  • Higher Education and Opportunity Act Open or Close

    The Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 requires that institutions offering online courses must secure those courses behind a password system to ensure that tests and other graded assignments are being taken by the actual student enrolled in the course. Pennsylvania Highlands Community College complies with this law by having all of our assignments take place within the password protected confines of the myPEAK/eLearning system.   • Learning Management System (Schoology) Open or Close

    Schoology is the Learning Management system utilized by Penn Highlands for online courses and to enhance face to face and hybrid learning.
