Security Officer

Job Scope

Responds to emergency or safety and security related concerns. Patrols College and provides first-line response, emergency management and/or law enforcement referral if needed.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  1. As an essential position may be asked to report for work when the College is closed or delayed in opening.
  2. Complete incident reports documenting accidents or safety and security concerns.
  3. Distribute employee parking permits.
  4. Create and issue College identification cards.
  5. Opening and closing of College building and classrooms as needed.
  6. Patrol parking lots and issue citations for violations of the parking policy.
  7. Monitor campus for suspicious or dangerous behavior.
  8. Assist during evacuation or any emergency circumstances.
  9. Attendance at all mandatory meetings.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

Education: High school diploma or GED required.

Experience & Knowledge: Experience in security or law enforcement preferred.

Computer Skills: Able to use or learn computer programs relative to job including Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and internal systems. 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Criminal background clearance and valid PA driver’s license.

Physical Demands: This position is required to stand, walk, sit, see, use hands, reach, kneel, talk, and hear for extended periods during a shift. The position may require lifting items weighing up to 40 pounds. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Work Environment: Inside duties occur in a controlled climate with up to moderate noise levels. Outside responsibilities vary and may include occasional exposure to extreme heat or cold.

Hours & Days: 16 hours per week, Monday – Friday; afternoon & evening hours.

Location: Richland Campus

Pay Rate: $11 per hour
